“The biggest advantage of the lighting installation is that we can control it and run different events at the same time with different atmospheres.”

Customer challenge
With its previous lighting installation, Omnisport Apeldoorn had little flexibility and limited control—either all the lights were on, or they were all off.
Since the sports events held on site are broadcast to audiences all over the world, the venue’s lighting also needs to stay compliant with strict standards for televised events, which the previous lighting installation was unable to do.
So there was a clear need for a more flexible and modern lighting solution, with lower energy consumption too, if possible.
The solution
To fulfill the specific needs of Omnisport Apeldoorn, Signify designed a more flexible and energy-efficient lighting system. To minimize transport-related carbon emission, 275 Philips ArenaVision luminaires were shipped directly to the venue.
The new luminaires were installed by Signify's partner Ooostendorp, and are managed with a Signify Interact connected lighting system for sports. Lighting performance can be targeted for each sport, with zones for lighting up only the areas in use, reducing the building’s energy consumption drastically.
