What does the UltraEfficient (UE) designation mean for lamps and luminaires?

The UltraEfficient mark is a Signify self-certification — not a third-party accreditation. Lamps qualify by meeting EU Energy Label class A or B. Luminaires qualify by meeting tier 3 in the IEA 4E SSL ANNEX. The mark indicates performance beyond standard LED, covering efficacy, lifetime, and energy savings, and is substantiated by Signify's published product brochures for each family in the range.

What efficacy levels do UltraEfficient lamps reach, and how does this compare to standard alternatives?

Efficacy across the UltraEfficient lamp range reaches up to 210 lm/W — achieved by both the MASTER LEDtube UE T8 (EEL A) and the MASTER LEDbulb UE. The UltraEfficient indoor luminaire portfolio covers trunking, high-bay, panels, and accent families. Examples include Maxos fusion UE (190–202 lm/W), CoreLine highbay gen6 UE (190–196 lm/W), Pacific LED gen5 UE (185–191 lm/W), PowerBalance UE (172–174 lm/W), and StyliD Evo UE (144–159 lm/W), among others. What UltraEfficient outdoor luminaire families are available, and what makes them suitable for road and street applications?

UltraEfficient outdoor families include UniStreet/LumiStreet UE, Luma UE, and AluRoad UE. Luma UE and UniStreet/LumiStreet UE both achieve 203 lm/W in selected configurations, with die-castings from more than 80–85% recycled aluminium and Interact City connectivity. Do UltraEfficient luminaires meet workplace glare requirements such as UGR ≤ 19?

For installations requiring compliance with EN 12464-1 (consult the relevant clause and table for your specific task and space type) — which addresses UGR limits for workstations with display screens — workplace-suitable UltraEfficient families meet this threshold. PowerBalance UE, for example, is rated UGR 16. The choice of family should be validated against the specific task illuminance and uniformity targets for the space, confirmed through photometric calculation in DIALux or Relux against EN 12464-1 Table 5.3.

What warranty do UltraEfficient lamps carry, and how long is their rated lifetime?

The MASTER LEDtube UE T8 (EEL A) carries a 10-year warranty and a rated lifetime of 100,000 hours (L70). Other UltraEfficient lamps — including the MASTER LEDbulb UE and MASTER LEDspot UE GU10 — carry a 5-year 50,000 hours (L70). Warranty terms can differ by country and project type — verify the warranty period and conditions applicable in your market with the local Signify representative or authorised partner.

How do UltraEfficient LED lamps replace existing HID installations such as SON-T?

The MASTER LED SON-T UE is engineered as a direct retrofit into existing SON-T luminaires, maintaining the same physical size and light distribution. It delivers up to 9,000 lm at 19–42.8 W (replacing 50–100 W SON-T), saving 65% energy versus a conventional HID system including ballast losses, with a payback of 2.7 years and CO₂ avoided of 1,043 kg per 100 units over lifetime.
