The challenge

 

The Philips Stadium wants to be the most innovative and hospitable stadium. The quality of the pitch is essential in the Philips Stadium, significantly impacting player welfare, safety and performance. A beautiful green pitch is also very important for TV broadcasts and the fan experience.
The stadium’s ambition was to improve turf quality while decreasing energy consumption with the newest LED technology.

The solution

The energy-efficient Philips LED and infrared lamps can dim separately and are operated by a fully automated central control system. This system accurately determines how much light and heat the grass needs to grow optimally, using various sensors that continuously measure environmental factors such as daylight, temperature and humidity. In this way, the grass never receives too much or too little lighting.
