Customer challenge
Illumicube had become a dark, ageing landmark, with failed lighting, obsolete controls and repeated hardware breakdowns. artsACT needed to revive an iconic artwork that the community loved, while making it reliable, programmable and energy-efficient. The challenge was to restore its creative spirit with modern technology, enable remote programming, and future-proof it for community events and civic placemaking.
The solution
To restore Illumicube, artsACT needed a durable, low-maintenance lighting system that could deliver vivid nightly displays without risk of failure. Signify’s Color Kinetics iColor Flex LMX gen2 provided the reliability and precision needed for a remote-programmed artwork with limited physical access. The solution has delivered 12 months of uninterrupted illumination, reducing operational effort while enabling endless creative lighting possibilities.
