An employee-nominated lighting project helps Eufronio Viscarra School become energy efficient, lowering costs and allowing it to open a volunteer-built library and extend evening learning.
When Signify employee Giovana Perez Ayala nominated a rural public school for a lighting upgrade, she set in motion a collaborative initiative that would open new opportunities for an entire community. This project was born out of her deep personal connection to the Eufronio Viscarra Elementary School in the countryside of Cochabamba, Bolivia, where her late father had studied as a child.
Driven to honor his memory through the employee-led Project In/visible, Giovana championing the cause was the essential spark that made the initiative possible. For many years, the historical school, founded in 1922, had struggled with outdated and inefficient lighting infrastructure that left its 200 students trying to focus in dim classrooms during the winter months.
