This impact was made possible through a partnership with Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH), with support from the Signify Foundation. Together, 90 solar luminaires were installed in residential areas and day schools for vulnerable children. Beyond bringing light to streets, the project is helping families reclaim their evenings, strengthening bonds, and making neighborhoods more vibrant and secure.
During a recent visit, Harry Verhaar, chair of the Signify Foundation board, stood at the top of that hill and watched how the light now reaches down across the community giving children a safe walk to school and parents peace of mind. He also met Luis, a young man who grew up in an NPH home after being abandoned as a baby. Luis shared his dream of becoming a journalist, one who shines a light on solutions rather than problems. His story is a reminder that the glow of light carries with it something even greater: the power to nurture resilience, ambition, and hope.
What makes these moments so powerful is seeing firsthand how numbers translate into lived reality. Ninety luminaires are not just fixtures on poles, they become safe paths, baseball games played at dusk, longer evenings spent with neighbors, and opportunities to learn and grow.
