Signify celebrates 60 million UHP Projector Lamp milestone as it pioneers new LED breakthroughs for the Projector Market
 

We entered the projector market in 1994, when Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) invented the Philips Ultra High Performance (UHP) Projector lamp. Our first lamp was manufactured in Turnhout, Belgium. It was a breakthrough that transformed the projector market by bringing brightness and performance levels never experienced before. Decades of innovations and product introductions later, we’ve today reached a remarkable milestone: the sale of our 60 millionth UHP lamp. It marks a landmark in projector technology.

It’s difficult to visualize 60 million lamps but this is the equivalent of providing a lamp for every man, woman and child in Italy.

This is an amazing moment for us all. The UHP lamp has been used in all manner of commercial projection systems, home theatre projectors, rear projection TVs and video walls. This long-lasting lamp is in use all over the world and has brought pleasure and performance to hundreds of millions of people.
