Faced with an aging and failing Light Master system and an emergency lighting installation that no longer met compliance standards, the building operators required an upgrade strategy that would restore full regulatory compliance and operational reliability—while ensuring the building remained fully functional with zero downtime throughout the installation process.
Central Criminal Courts of Justice
Dublin, Ireland
Customer challenge
As Ireland’s Central Criminal Courts, the client required a solution that not only met strict compliance and energy-efficiency requirements but, above all, ensured absolutely no disruption to the building’s operation or security. To identify the most appropriate approach, the building operators went to market and reviewed a range of proposals—spanning wireless, wired, and several hybrid solutions—each offering different pathways to achieving the required upgrade.
The solution
Eclipse Integration selected the Dynalite system as the ideal solution to deliver the required controls upgrade. When combined with our ABB DALI emergency lighting system, it provided the perfect balance of compliance, reliability, and energy management. Eclipse delivered the full turnkey package—including design, installation, commissioning, and certification—ensuring a seamless experience for the client.
Our modular project-delivery approach guaranteed zero downtime, a key requirement for the Central Criminal Courts. Through extensive offsite build and pre-commissioning, our installation teams were able to work overnight, returning the courts to full operational readiness every morning.
Over the course of 10 months, Eclipse successfully installed and commissioned:
- 1,600 control devices
- 2,900 emergency lighting units
- 3,000+ pre-fabricated leads
The completed system provides a fully graphical interface for real-time testing and monitoring of the new emergency lighting installation. In addition, this phase of works has prepared the building’s infrastructure for the next stage of the upgrade—set to introduce more than 6,200 DALI lighting points across the site.
