‘De Sportas’ is a series of sports facilities that vertically cross the city of Amsterdam. The northern Schinkeleiland is the home of the ASV Arsenal football club. The sports complex – two artificial grass fields, surrounded by an athletics track – has gained in appeal now that the lighting columns are equipped with OptiVision LED lighting from Philips. Bert van de Rotte, chairman of ASV Arsenal, summarizes the benefits: “Not only the energy bill is lower and the lighting lasts five times longer, we also literally put ourselves in the spotlight with efficient lighting. The lighting columns are positioned so that the fields separated from the athletics track or the fields independently can be highlighted.”
