Exactly a year ago, just ahead of the 2024 Silverstone Formula One Grand Prix, we announced our partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. This marked the beginning of a dynamic collaboration driven by a shared commitment to responsible innovation. Our entry into the world’s fastest-growing sport as the Official Lighting Partner of Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team reflects a mutual dedication to advancing technology and redefining performance.

At the 2025 Silverstone Grand Prix, we sat down with Nathalie Quéré, Head of Sponsorship, to look back on our work so far to support the team’s sustainability ambitions, enhance the well-being and performance of drivers and team members, and elevate fan experiences—both trackside and at home.

Performance and well-being

Over the past year, Signify products have been integrated into multiple locations and facilities both at the team’s UK headquarters and supporting the drivers and race team at the track. Our innovations have helped to deliver optimal conditions for team members to see, feel, and function at their best

Since entering into partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team in 2024, Signify has learned a great deal about the intensity of the Formula 1 racing schedule and the unique challenges that drivers and the wider team face to achieve and maintain peak performance.
Our aim is to support the team’s performance and well-being as much as we can through our scientific expertise and cutting-edge innovations in lighting. One of our many joint initiatives is that we have equipped both the drivers and the engineers at home and on the road with lighting technology to optimize their performance, cope with jet lag and work through the night when required.”

Signify’s NatureConnect technology replicates natural daylight at the team’s UK headquarters,  enabling engineers to maintain focus during extended simulator sessions. And on the road, portable light therapy and performance lamps help regulate the team’s circadian rhythms by adjusting light exposure. These interventions are part of a scientifically developed jet lag protocol created in collaboration with the team doctor, through which light exposure is carefully timed to promote restful sleep, accelerate recovery, and enhance cognitive performance.

I genuinely thought it was natural light. I just couldn’t believe it. It felt so realistic."

Elevating fan experiences trackside and at home

Beyond performance-enhancing technology, the partnership aims to elevate fan experiences through lighting innovation. Signify’s technology has proved powerful in bringing fans to the heart of the Formula One action, whether at the track or viewing the race at home.

On top of night-time illumination of iconic circuits in Singapore and Las Vegas, and immersive TV and gaming surround lighting, Signify has made a real impact elevating the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s hospitality experiences across the world – from Vegas, to Miami, to Barcelona and now Silverstone.

As shown at Silverstone Club, our partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has really helped to elevate their hospitality experience. It’s a true collaboration; Mercedes wants to centralise their Clubs as a high-level brand experience, and we are accompanying them on this journey by providing tailored lighting that brings to life the history and aesthetic of each Club’s race location.”

There are so many great achievements to reflect on at the one-year mark of our partnership, but what has made me proudest is seeing the energy, enthusiasm, and creativity across the world from Signify colleagues and customers who have been in contact with the partnership.”

As this inaugural year comes to an end, there is no slowing down the innovations that will help to boost the team performance and fan experience. In the coming months, we’ll reveal more about how Signify is helping the team unlock potential through lighting innovations. Stay tuned!
