The Polish market increasingly demands year-round availability of fresh, high-quality tomatoes with consistent taste. Traditional HPS lighting systems are no longer cost-efficient. After successful LED trials, the grower needed a scalable, energy-efficient solution to enable sustainable, intensive tomato production while maintaining product quality and reducing energy consumption.
Solution
The vegaPOL Kociszewski implemented Philips LED lighting, combining toplighting and interlighting to achieve 260 µmol/m²/s. This enables energy-efficient, year-round tomato production while reducing energy consumption by over 40% compared to HPS systems.
