Rural health stations are hugely important for supporting local communities and slowing or preventing the spread of the virus causing COVID-19.
Rural health centers serve as initial contact points for informing the population about health and protection measures coordinated by state and international aid organisations, as well as first aid providers.
To improve rural health care facilities, Signify Foundation and Solar Energy Foundation cooperated to equip up to 20 health stations in Uganda with solar power. The solar systems donated by Signify provide safe lighting in treatment rooms and mobile lamps for outdoor use. Plus, the ability to charge mobile phones will ensure that the health stations can be reached at all times, ensuring that communication is always possible. Finally, streetlamps in outdoor areas increase the security of health stations.
