We set an ambition to double our positive impact over five years. Here’s what we learned.

February 24, 2026

The past five years have been marked by disruption and transformation. From a global pandemic to major shifts in the geopolitical landscape, supply chain volatility, and the growing impact of climate change, the 2020s are testing the resilience of people and the businesses that serve them. Throughout this period, lighting has continued to play a vital role - providing safe, efficient, and sustainable illumination for homes, communities, and workplaces.

In 2025, Signify concluded a second chapter of our Brighter Lives, Better World sustainability program. Despite the turbulence of this era, we more than achieved three out of four of our ambitious targets. I am proud of our progress. We also close this chapter with a clearer perspective on what lasting transformation requires.”

Ambition moves with the science

We reduced the carbon footprint of our value chain by 60%, outperforming the 40% reduction required by the 1.5 °C scenario of the Paris Agreement. Since we set our 2025 target, the likelihood of the world limiting warming to 1.5 °C has diminished, while evidence of the risks beyond that threshold has continued to grow.

We did not wait for the end of the program to aim higher. In 2024, we set a net-zero target for 2040 as part of our Climate Transition Plan, and we are progressing toward it. We will continue to align with science, not with minimum compliance.

Sustainability scales through the market

We reached 37% Circular revenues, demonstrating that circularity is not a future ideal but a viable business reality today. 35% of our revenues contributed to Brighter lives outcomes. That includes safer cities, workplaces that support well-being, and more efficient food production.

Revenue-linked targets serve two purposes. They anchor growth in our purpose, aligning commercial performance with the impact we want to deliver. And they challenge us to outperform on value, ensuring our sustainable solutions win and scale because they are better at solving real customer needs.

Progress requires persistence, not perfection

We did not reach our target of 34% women in leadership, ending at 27%. When we set this goal in 2019, women held 17% of leadership roles at Signify. We fell short of our ambition, but we achieved meaningful structural progress.

The path to equitable representation requires sustained effort and systemic change. I believe that the initiatives we are taking are the right ones, and we will continue to create more accessible paths for talented women to rise through our organization. We are committed to accelerating that progress.

Resilience is the new competitive advantage

As the lighting sector enters the next phase of sustainability, we believe that resilience will be paramount. A resilient business decarbonizes faster, embraces circular models, invests in its people, and collaborates across its value chain. It adapts not only to emerging risks but also to emerging responsibilities. That’s what we plan for the next phase.”

As we close this program and look ahead to the next five years, we do so from a strong foundation on which we will continue to build. We will continue to light the path toward a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable world.
