Light is essential for life. Lighting is also a significant and highly visible consumer of energy, so energy-efficient lighting has a critical role to play in making our planet sustainable.

To reduce the environmental impact of lighting, governments are driving sustainable renovations through targeted incentives and updated regulations. In Europe, key measures include the Ecodesign requirements for light sources and control gear, the EU Energy Labelling scheme, and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), all accelerating the shift toward more energy efficient lighting.

At Signify OEM, we provide innovative lighting components that enable you as luminaire manufacturers to build high‑performance, future‑ready solutions. As sustainability becomes a decisive factor in building projects, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are emerging as a key requirement across the lighting and construction industries. EPDs turn complex sustainability data into clear, credible, and comprehensive information across a product’s full lifecycle, from raw materials to end of life. 

We’ve published EPDs for hundred of components, clearly indicating all aspects of their environmental impact. You can use this information for publishing EPDs for your own luminaires in turn.

Driver miniaturisation

On average, our linear drivers reduced by 25% in size between 2020 and 2025.  Which means a substantial reduction in the use of natural resources, and in future landfill.

By conducting up to 1,000 hours of accelerated stress testing during development, we continuously enhance product reliability and robustness, resulting in a proven track record of performance that exceeds expectations.

We minimise the environmental impact of our packaging by removing plastic and using recycled and/or certified renewable materials from responsible sources.
