    Used extensively by scientists for over 40 years1, UV-C is a know disinfectant for air, water and surfaces. All bacteria and viruses tested to date (many hundreds over the years, including various coronaviruses) respond to UV-C radiation.2 Signify has been at the forefront of UV technology for many years and has a proven track record of developing innovative UV-C products and applications.

    In laboratory testing, Signify’s UV-C light sources inactivated 99% of SARS-CoV-2 virus on a surface with an exposure time of 6 seconds.3

    3)Data made available to us by the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) at Boston University, which has been collected from a laboratory experiment conducted by Dr. Anthony Griffiths (Associate Professor of Microbiology at Boston University School of Medicine) and his team at the premises of the NEIDL (such data will be the subject of aforthcoming scientific publication by Boston University), shows that Signify’s UV-C light sources irradiating the surface of a material inoculated with SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease) at a UV-C dose of 5mJ/cm(exposure time 6 seconds) resulted in a99% reduction of the SARS-CoV-2 virus present on that surface.This studydetermined that a UV-C dose of 22mJ/cmresults in a reduction of 99.9999% of SARS-CoV-2 virus on that surface (exposure time 25 seconds). Research variables are available upon request.

    The quality of the air we breathe and the cleanliness of the surfaces we touch have a profound effect on our health and wellbeing. We’re all at risk of contracting and spreading viruses and bacteria, especially in busy public areas like the office, store, schools, museums and on public transport. Those most at risk are vulnerable patients in hospitals and other healthcare centers. Any form of viral infection can complicate their recovery. A proven and effective way to inactivate viruses and pathogens is through UV-C radiation.

    Most bacteria and viruses won't harm us. However, some germs and viruses are difficult enemies because they're mutating to breach our immune system's defenses.​

     

    Some everyday encounters with germs​:

     

    • Traditional grocery store shopping carts have 361 times more bacteria than a bathroom doorknob.​
    • Supermarket fridge doors have 1,235 times more bacteria than the surface of your cell phone.​
    • 50% of self-checkout touchscreens sampled had fecal bacteria on them. ​
