Eindhoven, the Netherlands – Philips Lighting (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, today announced two new innovations, the Philips TrueForce LED Road and the Philips CorePro LEDtube Universal T8. Philips TrueForce LED Road is the world’s first ‘plug and play’ replacement SON-T LED lamp for street lighting, making it easy to upgrade existing installations to LED without having to replace the luminaire. The Philips CorePro LEDtube Universal T8 is a breakthrough range of affordable tubes for trade customers, making tube replacement as easy as it was with fluorescent tubes.
Philips TrueForce LED Road for ‘like-for-like’ street lighting
The new Philips TrueForce LED Road is the first of its kind to fit into the standard E27 fixture and replicate a similar light effect to conventional street lighting. Philips TrueForce LED Road reduces the time needed to maintain, replace and fit each street light, including the knock-on time required for road closures. In addition, its longer lifespan of more than eight years plus energy savings of up to 45% compared to conventional bulbs help save on running costs.
The Nacka Municipality in Sweden has already trialed the new Philips TrueForce LED Road. Mikael Jansson, the street lighting expert at the municipality said: “Philips TrueForce LED Road, provides better light quality and a safer outdoor environment, compared to a 70W high pressure sodium lamp. The installation was as easy as installing a regular lamp and it fit various distinctive applications. Philips TrueForce LED Road is a good alternative to LED luminaires when budgets are tight.”
Modernizing the traditional 20-30-year old street lighting design, the new Philips TrueForce LED Road distributes a similar amount of light as conventional street lights and is available in warm white as well as a cooler white, to seamlessly blend in with existing street lights. With a significantly improved Color Rendering Index compared to conventional SON-T lamps, it also enhances the feeling of comfort and safety. Philips TrueForce LED Road will be available across Europe from July 2018.
Philips Lighting Strengthens Universal LED Tubes Portfolio with New Affordable Range for Trade Customers
Philips Lighting announced a breakthrough range of universal tubes, the Philips CorePro LEDtube Universal T8, for trade customers. With this new addition, Philips Lighting now offers the broadest range of LED tubes for different applications in the industry, serving the high-end specification market with the existing MASTER Universal range and trade customers with the new CorePro Universal range.
Harnessing Philips Lighting`s expertise, Philips CorePro LED tube Universal T8 makes installing tubes as easy as it used to be with fluorescent tubes. The range is affordable compared to high end universal LED tubes, making it the ideal alternative to standard fluorescent lights for trade customers.
Designed for simplicity, the Universal T8 tube is optimized to work with all driver technologies, fitting directly in luminaires operating on electromagnetic ballasts or HF electronic ballasts, reducing the cost of stocking different types of tubes. Philips CorePro LED tube Universal T8 can also connect directly to the mains power, bypassing the ballast. This enables additional energy savings. And by simplifying the tube selection process, it enables lighting professionals to allocate their time, expertise and resources to installing the perfect lighting for different needs.
Designed for lighting a wide variety of spaces like car parks, garages, corridors and shopping malls, the new universal LED tube delivers a high quality and reliable light along with up to 65% energy-savings, compared to the traditional TL-D fluorescents it replaces. Philips CorePro LEDtube Universal T8 will be available across Europe from May 2018.
