12 Signify lighting products selected as winners of the iF Design Award 2021

Since it was established in Germany in 1953, the iF Design Award has been the mark of extraordinary design. The aim of this accolade is to communicate the importance of design and all it can achieve for users, brands, and society.

Among almost 10,000 submissions from 52 countries, Signify demonstrated its design prowess not once, or twice, but 12 times. Products for both indoor and outdoor use received awards for their packaging, product, user interface and user experience design.

As Signify's chief design officer, I am super proud of our Design Team! Great design really matters to us at Signify and I’m delighted that a dozen of our products and services from different parts of the business have been recognized with such prestigious awards. It speaks volumes about the level of design excellence across Signify – and our collective commitment to bringing the best possible experience to our customers, while making sure we do right by the planet. I want to express my thanks to every one of our designers, and also to the Signify colleagues in other functions who contributed to the success of our submissions.

Read on for a brief description of the winning products and the features that drove the jury’s choices.

The NatureConnect

The NatureConnect lighting system brings the benefits of natural daylight indoors, reconnecting people to the qualities of outdoor light so crucial to their wellbeing. The system helps to restore the natural light balance present in the sun and the sky and offers a virtual view of the outdoors, improving the livability of indoor spaces that lack good access to natural daylight.

Interact City

Interact City is connected LED lighting management software that helps cities improve services, enhance citizen safety, beautify public spaces, and increase energy efficiency. Provided as a Software as a Service application, Interact City offers a cohesive end-to-end user experience from initial project setup to asset maintenance. It translates highly complex and technical design challenges into clear, coherent, and human-centered user interface designs.

Philips Mijia Study Desk Lamp

The third generation of the Philips Mijia Study Desk Lamp for reading and writing is 20% smaller than its previous generation, giving more space on users’ desks while maintaining the same light quality. An optimized light reflection system is applied, which can filter the reflected light of books and desktops, reduces the indirect glare in a large area, and reduces the glare caused by the reflection, clearly displaying the black and white characters.

Philips Hue Iris smart table lamp

Beauty meets smart. The iconic design of the Philips Hue Iris lamp has been reinvented and now features a fabric-wrapped cord, mixed materials, aluminum inner tube, and provides a unique light effect — a wash of color with a gentle backlight — to create a sophisticated smart lamp.

Philips RoadFlair Gen2

Philips RoadFlair Gen2 is a revolutionary road lamp family that is professionally elegant and smartly engineered, set to meet customers’ all-round requirements, including high lumen efficacy (up to 43,500 lm) in extreme compact sizes with powerful thermal performance for functionality, energy saving and sustainability. Smart control and its competitive price can accelerate the transformation to a greener and smarter city.

Philips Hue Iris Limited edition packaging

The Iris has been a successful lighting product for a long time. To boost this success, a new series of specially designed Philips Hue Iris Limited edition variants have been developed and packaged in a premium gift box. The tub and a lid construction truly create a special gift feeling. What’s more, the packaging hardly uses any plastic.

Philips Hue Centris spot range

Designed to illuminate the room while offering focused accent lighting, the Philips Hue Centris ceiling spot light allows you to create a truly unique atmosphere. Whether you set each light to a different color or the whole fixture to a soft warm white, the versatility of Centris offers the potential to truly customize your home for any occasion.

Philips Hue Lily XL Outdoor spot light

The Philips Hue Lily XL is a large outdoor spot which is made to create a pleasant colored garden atmosphere by lighting up large plants and trees. Due to its low-voltage cabling and small accessories, it’s easy to connect, place, and extend. The simple and robust, but elegant and friendly design makes it an accessible product of high quality.

BrightSites I-Series

BrightSites I-Series smart poles help cities meet the needs of citizens, businesses, and visitors by delivering quality light with fast broadband connectivity. By enabling the deployment of small cells at street level, the BrightSites smart poles help cities build the foundation for smart city services and applications.

Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box

Sync your Hue lights to the content on your TV to create an immersive entertainment experience. Connect the source to the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, connect the sync box to the TV, and you're ready to go. The sync box can be controlled using your existing remote controller to avoid introducing another physical controller to the house, but it can also be controlled through the Hue Sync app.

Philips Tango G4 Flood

Philips Tango G4 Flood is a thoughtfully designed and smartly engineered LED flood lighting family. Powered by LED technology and with a design which incorporates the needs for both aesthetics and functionality, the luminaires deliver superior performance and a longer lifetime, bringing area lighting to a new level.

Color Kinetics ColorGraze Compact Powercore

Color Kinetics Graze Compact Powercore

Minimalism is at the heart of the Color Kinetics Compact Graze Powercore linear outdoor fixture. Its visually quiet design makes it more discreet in installations, ensuring it doesn’t distract from a building’s architecture or illumination while highlighting eye-catching details on facades. The minimalist design requires no heatsinking fins, further enhancing its unobtrusive look while providing more light from a smaller footprint.

Green light from Red Dot

In addition to the iF design awards, Signify also received 11 Red Dot Product Design 2021 awards. The products awarded were: Gardco PureForm Small area & site luminaire round, Philips RoadFlair Gen2, Philips Tango G4 Flood, Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, Philips Hue Iris, Philips Hue Lily XL Outdoor spot, Philips Centris spot range, Philips Mijia Study Desk Lamp gen3, Philips Mijia Desk Lamp, Philips Lotus Modular Ceiling Light and the Philips Planet modular downlight series.
