    Challenging Applications Require Innovative Solutions

    Bodine has your back.

Bodine now offers five new products for cold temperature and extended runtime needs.  Available now, these new products are the latest in Bodine innovation.

Environments where ambient temperature falls below freezing require an emergency solution able to withstand the cold. These cold temperature applications may be indoors or out, and include parking garages, outdoor walkways, bollards, post lamps, wall packs, and, in addition, cold storage warehouses, walk in freezers and similar.  Bodine’s BSL20B6 Cold, BSL13B2 Cold, and BSL13B6 Cold are the latest Bodine emergency LED drivers that operates in extreme temperature environments, down to -20°C. The BSL20B6 Cold provides 20 watts of initial light output for 90 minutes and the BSL13B2 Cold and BSL13B6 Cold provides 13 watts of initial emergency power, also for 90 minutes.  The BSL13B2 Cold is an integral, all-in-one, product where the battery and circuitry are contained in a single steel chassis. The BSL20B6 Cold and BSL13B6 Cold are separate battery models, where the battery can be installed in a variety of locations, remote from the circuitry, which is contained in a small metal chassis. Thanks to lithium battery technology, the separate-battery models offer a single, reduced-size battery pack while maintaining higher output power. The configuration options and smaller chassis and battery mean the new cold temperature products are suitable for a variety of luminaire sizes and shapes.

Bodine’s new extended runtime LED emergency driver families are the 14-watt BSL14B2 2-Hour and the 7-watt BSL07B2 4-Hour. These new products provide emergency illumination for far longer than the standard 90-minutes. Extended runtime applications can be required by local code, federal or state emergency management associations, such as FEMA, or special occupancy requirements dictated by a facility’s disaster management plan. This can include buildings classified as earthquake, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency shelters or other critical facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and emergency operations centers. Extended emergency runtime products are also valuable in elevators, high-rise buildings, or anywhere where evacuation of a building may take longer than the standard 90-minute runtime would allow or where people will muster for long periods of time.  These are integral battery products available in the familiar BSL310 metal chassis, and the BSL14B2 2-hour can be had with or without conduit, and with Class 2 output voltages or voltages up to 200 Vdc.

These new models are easier than ever to install and use. The supplied test switch cable assembly is plenum rated, allowing for easy routing of the test switch to any convenient location.  Plenum rating eliminates the need for conduit to sheath the test switch wiring. Additionally, the attractive, high quality test switch is IP65 rated, allowing it to be made user accessible in many extreme environments. No longer does the switch need to be protected by the luminaire or special covers, for most applications.  Not only that, but it is also vandal resistant to boot.

Taking easy installation one step further, Automatic Bodine Connect (or ABConnect) eliminates the need for the manual manipulation of product converter connectors and allows for the emergency driver to be mounted and shipped, and the luminaire installed and sealed, prior to AC power being available, and all without draining the battery. ABConnect automatically reactivates both charging and emergency functions when the emergency driver sense that AC power is first applied, without requiring the installer to gain access to the luminaire a second time. This saves time and labor, and the potential to overlook the converter connector step.

Bodine also includes self-test as standard in these models to create the ultimate experience in easy ownership.  With self-test, maintenance of a facility’s emergency lighting system is both simple, efficient, and hands free. The self-test feature automatically performs the code required 30-second test once every month and the required full rated discharge once per year. During these tests, the product monitors the performance of the battery, the charging system, the LED load, and the temperature of the installation. Test results are reported to maintenance personnel via flashing of the charge indicator light. With self-test, you can be assured that your emergency lighting is always up to code and ready for use.

These new products are ideally suited to address many of your tough applications.  Available in several familiar form factors, they can be used to easily convert new or existing LED luminaires into code-compliant emergency lighting systems.  California Energy Commission Title 20 compliance with smart charger technology means these products can help you meet your Title 24 building energy requirements.  Finally, these new products are all UL Listed for factory or field installation in the US and Canada.  For more information on these new products, please visit the links below, the website at www.bodine.com, or contact your local Bodine representative.
