    Green Switch for business

What Green Switch can do for business

Signify’s Green Switch program has been designed to help private companies in consulting, auditing, and exploring funding and financing opportunities for advanced lighting solutions that make professional lighting more energy-efficient and make their new or existing buildings fit for the future.

Our systems experts offer the deep knowledge and experience needed to coordinate the installation, commissioning, and operation of connected LED lighting systems specifically designed for professional environments. In the last three years, we’ve helped 13.000+ companies across the globe to renew their lighting systems over 56,000+ projects.

Achieve your targets with Green Switch

The existing building stock worldwide represents a major contributor to climate change, with the built environment *contributing 39% of all energy-related CO2 emissions. As such, the built environment is also one of the biggest opportunities to bend the emissions curve toward zero.

Making the switch from conventional to LED lighting is a fast and effective way for businesses to move toward their business sustainability goals. Lighting accounts for *approximately 40% of electricity use in ambient warehousing, as an example, and around *17% of all energy use in offices. Connected LED lighting can reduce these consumption figures by as much as 80% over conventional lighting.

It’s time to take effective action

Indeed, businesses are coming around to the view that it’s time to take effective action. Globally, *30% of listed companies now use sustainability-linked performance measures in their plans, and *73% of executives said that becoming a “truly sustainable and responsible business” was a top priority for their organization over the next three years. And businesses are putting their money where their mouths are: sustainable investments have grown *$23 trillion globally over the last two years— around a quarter of all professionally managed assets.

Becoming more sustainable can also improve business reputations and enhance a brand. Surveys indicate that 66% of consumers plan to make more sustainable or ethical purchases over the next six months, and 74% of consumers believe that ethical corporate practices and values are an important reason to choose a brand. Not only that, but the top quartile sustainable companies report an average *21% higher EBITDA margin.

How much can making the Green Switch save annually?

    For a 100,000 m2 manufacturing facility:

    • €0.8 million in energy costs
    • 2.4 GWh in electricity consumption
    • 627 tons of CO2

With the freed-up electricity, you could:

    • Manufacture 54,000 pairs of jeans
    • Produce 371 tons of recycled paper
    For a 40,000 m2 logistics center:

    • €0.3 million in energy costs
    • 1 GWh in energy consumption
    • 250 tons of CO2

With the freed-up electricity, you could:

    • Charge 433 electric vans
    • Power 114 electric forklifts
For a 15-floor office tower with an area of 50,000 m2:

    • €0.6 million in energy costs
    • 1.7 GWh in energy consumption
    • 450 tons of CO2

With the freed-up electricity, you could:

    • Power 50% of the tower’s HVAC system
    • Run 536 refrigerated vending machines

    Funding and financing opportunities

Government funding is being made available around the world to help local authorities achieve their carbon emissions reduction goals, through programs such as the *EU Green Deal, the US *Inflation Reduction Act and *Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the *New China Infrastructure Plan.

Additional funding may also be available through blended finance initiatives, including publicprivate partnerships. Signify offers *Light-as-aService (LaaS), which can help spur renovation by removing initial investment barriers.
