Self-test emergency lighting

Because power failures are unpredictable, fire marshals, electrical inspectors, building owners and others want assurance that emergency lighting equipment will function properly when it's needed. Monthly and annual testing is required by code, but also a smart thing to do.

Bodine's self-testing emergency lighting products automatically test emergency lighting operation for 30 seconds every month and for 90 minutes once a year as required by code. In addition, they continuously monitor charging current and battery voltage, watching for anything that could indicate a problem. Occupants and maintenance personnel are alerted to the product's status through the charge indicator LED, either through flashing, color, or both. FirstLink compatible self-testing products will also alert maintenance personnel though regular reporting.

Because testing is done automatically, building maintenance personnel are not required to manually test emergency lighting each month, which can help building owners and operators save time and labor. Self-testing is ideal for facilities with large numbers of emergency lighting units to test or with difficult-to-access emergency lighting units.

STSelect

In locations where automatic self-testing is not desired, such as an operating room or movie theaters, Bodine offers products with STSelect. STSelect, is a feature which allows the self-test functionality to be enabled or disabled as needed. This is accomplished through a small switch on the product, accessible to the installer.

Enabling or disabling self-test is clear and simple. Here you can see the position of the switch for each mode. Additionally, this is indicated on the product's label.

Use the same fixture, the same emergency driver, but customize it's functionality to the need of the location.
