Samantha Hamilton is a recent Business graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She started her journey at Signify in the summer of 2020 as a Sales Intern on the US OEM Team working on projects to support the sales team and our OEM customers. After this learning period, she found her passion for the results and building a solid customer relationship, which led her to become a committed Signify people that are starting to shine.

Why did you choose an internship with Signify?

I chose an internship with Signify for the hands-on learning experience I would get in a professional environment. Throughout my internship, I participated in customer calls and learned the ins and outs of the business.

I also grew my skillset by learning how to use Salesforce in a mass data management project. When presented with the opportunity to extend my internship into a full-time role, I knew that I could not refuse.

The endless growth opportunities at Signify and the supportive OEM team made it an easy decision for me to return. After being with Signify full-time since July of this year, I know that I made the right choice in staying with the company in my new role.

Which projects have you contributed to, and has the experience influenced what you'd like your career journey to include?

Throughout my time with Signify, I was fortunate enough to work on various projects with different members of the OEM team. I dedicated a lot of time and effort to the Salesforce data management project I completed last fall. This involved working with each sales representative to clean up their data in Salesforce. I coordinated a mass upload to correct the data in the system.

After completing this project, I partnered with the Bodine sales representatives to assist them in rolling out the new clean order requirements for their agents. I met with each Bodine agent to review their file, correct the information we had in our system and followed up with them to ensure they understood our new clean order requirements to speed up the order process and minimize any delays.

I also participated in customer calls with some of our key customers. Listening in on these calls helped me understand how to build a relationship with a customer. Throughout these projects and experiences, I am confident that Sales is the career path for me because of the exciting challenges that make every day unique.
