CES 2020 - Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) – Philips Hue, a brand of Signify — the world leader in lighting — is expanding its partnership program with new third-party smart switches. In addition, Philips Hue has added Bluetooth capability to more light bulbs and fixtures and updated the Zones feature in the Hue app to include accessories.
New Friends of Hue
Control your Philips Hue lights with new smart light switches designed by Voltus and Jung. Voltus, a German online retailer specializing in lighting and controls, has introduced a new battery-free light switch that can be integrated directly into the Philips Hue system. For Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands, a new partnership with switch manufacturer Jung will soon bring new smart switches to those markets. Insta, a German specialist for intelligent building technology, has also joined the "Friends of Hue" program.
Zones: Here to stay, and even better than before.
The latest upgrade of the Hue app includes the permanent addition of Zones and also additional functionality for the feature. With this upgrade, you can configure all accessories, such as a Philips Hue Dimmer switch, Philips Hue Smart button or a Friends of Hue switch, to control a Zone rather than the whole room. For example, you could create a Zone for your entire upper floor or a corner of the living room and control it using a smart switch or sensor. The upgrade also includes a battery level indication for your accessories when a battery is running low.
