    Our 2019 annual report sustainability results


    Sustainability is central to our company strategy and purpose, which is why it is a key focus in our 2019 annual report. In the report, we have measured our performance against our 2020 goals which we set out in our Brighter Lives, Better World program.     Sustainable revenues

    Sustainable revenues are defined as products with an energy efficiency of 66lm/W and higher as well as all systems and services, as these provide additional energy savings. In 2019, sustainable revenues grew to an all-time high of 82.5%.

    Global lighting challenge


    In September 2019, Signify celebrated surpassing its five-year commitment to deliver two billion LED lamps and luminaires in support of the “Global Lighting Challenge” at the Climate Week NYC. At the end of 2019, Signify delivered 2.3 billion LED lamps and luminaires, effectively avoiding more than 56 megatonnes of CO2 being emitted.

    Carbon neutral operations


    In 2019, we made progress against our science-based targets and we achieved a net carbon footprint of 64 kilotonnes CO2, which is 56% lower year-on-year. 15 of our 19 markets were carbon neutral and we procured 94% of our electricity from renewable sources. Additionally, 160 suppliers reporting emission-reduction activities.

    Zero waste to landfill


    In 2019, we reduced the amount of waste materials delivered to landfill by 70% compared with 2018 and 90% of our manufacturing waste was recycled.

    Safe and healthy workplace


    The Total Recordable Case (TRC) rate in 2019 was 0.32 per 100 FTEs (2018: 0.29). 18 of our industrial sites went through 2019 without any recordable injuries.

    Sustainable supply chain


    We achieved a supplier sustainability performance rate of 99% (2018: 93%).
