Our 2017 annual report sustainability results

 

Sustainability is central to our company strategy and purpose, which is why it is a key area of our 2017 annual report. In the report, we have measured our performance against our 2020 goals which we set out in our Brighter Lives, Better World program. Sustainable revenues

Sustainable revenues remained at comparable levels as 2016 as we further increased the stringency on energy efficiency requirements. In 2017, 77% of Signify sales were attributed to its revenues coming from sustainable products, systems, and services.

Global lighting challenge

 

Since 2015 we’ve delivered 1.2 billion LED lamps and luminaires, effectively avoiding approximately 30,000 kilotonnes of CO2 being emitted. This is part of the company’s commitment to deliver 2 billion LED lamps and luminaires by 2020.

Carbon neutral operations

 

In 2017, CO2 reductions of 20% were achieved year-on-year, resulting in a net carbon footprint of 325 kilotonnes CO2In 2017 we procured 80% of our electricity from renewable sources, an increase of 13 percentage points compared to 2016.

Zero waste to landfill

 

Waste to landfill decreased by 26% in 2017, totalling to 1,807 tonnes. Our percentage of waste that was recycled increased to 87%.

Safe and healthy workplace

 

The Total Recordable Case (TRC) rate decreased to 0.41 per 100 FTEs compared to 0.50 in 2016. We recorded 132 TRC cases, a year-on-year improvement of 19% versus the 162 cases in 2016

Sustainable supply chain

 

We achieved a supplier sustainability performance rate of 95% (2016: 92%).
