In what was another stellar year for Irish sport, the judging panel - consisting of eminent representatives of Ireland’s leading sports media - had a difficult decision with regards to selecting a winner. In the end, it was the success of Jim Gavin in guiding his team to take the Sam Maguire Cup for a record fifth time in a row that won out of over the eleven other distinguished monthly winners (full list below). This is a feat never achieved before.
The annual award, which has been held since 1982, was presented by Brendan Griffin TD, Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. Former winners include Jack Charlton, Eddie Jordan and most recently in 2018, former Ireland Rugby team coach Joe Schmidt. This is the second time Jim Gavin has won the award following his success in 2013.
In attendance were the other Sports Managers who have won Monthly Awards this year, as well as representatives from Irish Sporting Bodies and the media.

Manager of Dublin GAA football team
