    Signify has identified a safety problem which affects a number of Capri Track Lighting systems, in which the light fixtures can fall off the track rail, posing an impact injury hazard to bystanders.

     

    This recall involves Capri track lighting used in commercial buildings and includes 15 styles of metal or polycarbonate light fixtures, accessories and adapters, sold at electrical wholesale supply distributors from August 2010 through January 2013, for between $50 and $150. The track and light fixtures were sold in white, black or silver colors. The catalog number and date code are printed inside the lighting fixture. "Capri Lighting" is printed on a white label inside the track rail.

    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled track lights, remove them from the track rail and contact Signify for free replacement track lights.

The catalog number and date code are printed inside the lighting fixture. “Capri Lighting” is printed on a white label inside the track rail. If the model number of your product is NOT INCLUDED The product you have is NOT part of the recall and is safe to use. If the model number of your product IS INCLUDED: The product you have may be included in the recall and the date code will need to be validated.

    What problem has Genlyte Thomas Group LLC identified with its Capri track lighting systems?
    Genlyte Thomas Group LLC ("Genlyte") has identified a safety concern involving certain of its Capri track lighting systems. Specifically, the adapter assembly, which connects the lighting fixture to the track rail, contains a defect which can cause the adapter assembly to develop stress fractures. This, in turn, can lead to the lighting fixtures falling out of the track rail. This problem affects a number of Genlyte's track lighting systems, marketed under the brand name "Capri Lighting", and sold between August 1, 2010 and January 29, 2013. Genlyte is committed to the quality and safety of its products and has decided to undertake a voluntary recall effort to replace these products at no cost to the end-user.

    How do I know if my Capri track lighting system is among the affected lighting fixtures?

    The potentially affected products were manufactured and sold between August 1, 2010 and January 29, 2013. These products were marketed and sold only to professional electrical wholesale supply distributors for use by commercial property owners. They were not sold through mainstream retail stores such as Home Depot, Target, Lowes, Wal-Mart, etc. They were shipped from Philips distribution warehouses to customers during the noted time frame. A list of all affected product numbers is attached to this FAQ, along with an illustrative photograph of each product.

    You should call the recall hotline at (800) 634-0138 between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm CST, Monday through Friday.  You may also email us at lightingCAreturns@signify.com.  You will need to provide the following information:  the date code(s) and product number(s), name and location of the distributor/sales representative from whom you purchased the product(s), the date(s) of your purchase(s), and number of affected units that you purchased.  After we receive this information, we will make arrangements to send you replacement products at no cost.  Until then, the light fixtures on any affected product should be removed from the track rail in order to eliminate the potential of a falling hazard until corrective action can be coordinated.
    What should I do with the defective products?
    We ask that any and all defective products be returned to Signify for inspection and disposal. When you contact Signify, you will be provided with a shipping label, via email, to ship the products free-of-charge to the designated return center.

    The CPSC is aware of the problem and we are working jointly with them to provide information to all Capri track lighting system owners who may be affected.
