    Customer Challenge

With more than 300 travel agencies in the UK and Ireland, TUI helps millions of customers make life-long memories in more than 180 destinations worldwide. TUI is the world’s number one travel company and strives to meet the highest environmental standards in its destinations and operations.

When it came to upgrading in-store lighting, TUI turned to interiors specialist John Worth Group to help create an inviting atmosphere for customers, while also advancing the company’s goals of achieving net-zero emissions across its operations and supply chain, and becoming a circular business by 2050.

TUI faced the challenge of finding a lighting solution that would not only provide superior performance and reliability but also offer excellent energy efficiency and minimize material waste. It needed a solution that would align with its sustainability agenda while creating an exciting and welcoming in-store experience for its customers.

    The Solution

To create the right blend of products, design, and execution, TUI relied on fluid collaboration from an expert team. Leading electrical wholesaler CEF was very familiar with Signify’s expansive product range and importantly, the company’s alignment with TUI’s sustainability goals. Working in partnership with John Worth Group, CEF recommended Signify’s products for the store interiors.

Each organization played to its strengths: Signify provided top-tier lighting products, John Worth Group created a design vision and managed the project, and CEF seamlessly managed stock, order and delivery to site while keeping communications flowing.

Together, the group selected energy-efficient LED lighting from Signify that would not only create the right atmosphere for the stores but would also minimize energy use and emissions. Signify's 3D-printed luminaires offered a customized solution, designed to TUI's specifications through the Signify MyCreation online configurator, which allows customers to visualize their lighting configuration as they go. By using lightweight materials and European manufacturing sites, Signify can reduce transportation costs and emissions. The luminaires were made from recycled and bio-circular materials with few components to minimize waste.

Five pilot TUI stores were fitted with a range of panels, rafts, and track and spotlights to optimize performance in each retail space. With a well-established relationship in place between Signify, John Worth Group, and CEF, the group is now working with TUI on future projects across a further 30 stores in the UK.
