    We are on target to produce all printed parts with at least 55% recycled or mass balanced bio-circular1 plastics.

     

    The percentage is higher when we use recycled polycarbonate from post-industrial or post-consumer waste streams.

     

    We even produce lamps made from 100%-recycled fishing nets, helping to clean up ocean waste and making us less dependent of fossil resources.

    3D technology allows the creation of shapes not possible with traditional production. As a result, our products consist of fewer components. 

     

    3D printing allows us complete freedom when creating our eyecatching designs. It also simplifies the construction: it is no longer necessary to assemble parts with glue or other non-reversible methods, and the use of screws is minimised, which improves recyclability.

    Our products consist of less components , the 3D technology allows to create shapes which otherwise not possible with the traditional automation.

     

    There is a complete design freedom in creating the shapes. Assembly of two parts is removed, including assembly via screws, glue or other non-reversable connection methods. This improves the end-of-life and recyclability.

    The merging of multiple components into one single component makes it easier to assemble and disassemble the products. Special click connections enable fast disassembly.

    We use waste to create new luminaires. Up to 46% of all ocean plastic consists of fishing nets, but this is excellent basis for printing luminaires. With 4.5 meters of fishing nets, we can print one luminaire and help to save the lives of four marine animals.

    As part of our 3D printing production process, we recycle in-house, re-using waste such as rejected parts that didn’t pass our quality control. We re-use these as base material to print new products.

    Working towards ​a zero waste production

     

    In our 3D printing production process, we start in house recycling, re-using our own waste, like filament rejects and misprints. We can re-use this for new base material to print new products.

    1. Bio-circular raw materials are materials from ISCC Plus-certified waste streams and residues, such as tall oil from the wood processing industry and used cooking oil.
    2. Up to -76% carbon emissions applies for material extraction and manufacturing based on LCA comparison of downlights.
