Sydney, Australia – Royal Philips, the global leader in lighting, has expanded its Hue home lighting ecosystem to include the new Philips Hue Tap* in Australia. Powered by kinetic energy, the smart light switch can be mounted on the wall or left in a handy spot to control Hue* for times when your phone is on charge or the kids are playing with your tablet.
Philips Hue Tap is as smart as the Philips Hue bulbs it controls, and just as easy to use. Each of the four buttons can be programmed from the app on the user’s smartphone or tablet, whether it’s to set a favourite scene or light recipe, or just to turn Hue on and off.
Philips Hue Tap also needs no batteries as it operates using kinetic energy – it’s charged simply through the tap of your fingers. As a result, it has a remarkable zero watts of power consumption and needs no main power source. This means it’s not only smarter, but efficient and hassle-free.
“Hue Tap is the perfect solution for users who want to control their personal wireless lighting with yet more convenience,” says Rob Fletcher, General Manager, Philips Lighting Australia and New Zealand. “It is more than just a modern take on the wall switch – it combines easy-to-use traditional lighting control with the smart, intuitive, fun world of Philips Hue.”
Use of Philips Hue Tap requires the Hue bridge, which is sold with the Philips Hue starter kit. Hue Tap is available from August 2015 for RRP $79.95 from www.apple.com.au, Apple stores and www.simply-leds.com.au.
Philips Hue is a web-enabled LED home lighting system that is controllable using your smartphone or tablet. Friends of Hue light sources integrate seamlessly with Philips Hue, enabling users to choose from up to 16 million colours and programmable light scenes via the app (iOS or Android) on their smartphone or tablet*. Through a range of Hue apps you can for example, lights can slowly wake you up with the colours of sunrise, match the exact hue of a favourite photo or turn off automatically when you leave the house.
